# Campaigns overview

> Outbound that runs ON a service you already set up: voice campaigns through the receptionist, WhatsApp template campaigns, SMS campaigns — same numbers, same agent, same suppression list.

A campaign is outbound at scale — the recall list, the seasonal tune-up push, the win-back. In OpenAgent a campaign doesn't own its own infrastructure: **it runs on a service you already set up**. Pick the receptionist and the campaign calls; pick WhatsApp and it sends your approved template; pick SMS and it texts. The number, the agent, the compliance — all come from the service.

> **NO NUMBER FIELD:** You never type a "send from" number into a campaign. The service *is* the sender — which is why a campaign can't accidentally send from an unregistered or wrong number.

## Campaign types

| Type | Runs on | What happens per recipient |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Voice | An [AI receptionist](/docs/doors/ai-receptionist) service | The AI calls, runs the flow you chose, with the recipient's fields as variables ("about the $4,200 heat-pump quote…"). Paced dialing; every no-answer can feed the SMS net. |
| WhatsApp | A [WhatsApp](/docs/doors/whatsapp) service | Your approved template opens the conversation; the AI takes over on the reply. |
| SMS | An [SMS](/docs/doors/sms) service | The text goes out; replies land with the SMS agent as two-way conversations. |

## Creating a campaign

1. **Pick the service** — Which door sends. The campaign inherits its number and agent.
2. **Pick the audience** — A [rule over Contacts](/docs/campaigns/audiences) — or a CSV for one-off lists.
3. **Pick the message or flow** — Voice: a workflow to run on each call. WhatsApp: an approved template. SMS: your wording with variables.
4. **Launch — or schedule** — Sends respect quiet hours and [DND](/docs/crm/dnd); the campaign page tracks delivered, answered, replied, and booked.

## What campaigns are for

- **Reactivation** — "visited before, nothing in 90 days" gets the win-back.
- **Recalls & renewals** — patients due, maintenance plans expiring, memberships lapsing.
- **Seasonal pushes** — spring tune-ups, holiday bookings — to past-customer audiences.
- **Estimate follow-ups at scale** — the voice campaign that calls everyone you quoted.

> **EVERY RESULT IS CRM DATA:** Answered calls, replies, and bookings land as conversations and cards like any other door — so the campaign's value shows up as deals with [attribution](/docs/crm/attribution), not vanity metrics.
