OpenAgent + Notion

Use Notion as your team's knowledge hub and OpenAgent's content source

About Notion

Many ecommerce teams already manage their SOPs, product guides, and return policies in Notion. The OpenAgent–Notion integration makes that content work harder: sync Notion pages to OpenAgent's knowledge base so the AI agent always references your latest documentation. Conversely, push support insights — top questions, unresolved topics, trending issues — back to a Notion database so your team can act on them without logging into another tool.

How it works together

Connect Notion and OpenAgent gets the context and reach it needs to resolve more tickets automatically.

  • Connect Notion as a OpenAgent knowledge source
Authorize OpenAgent to read your Notion workspace via the Notion API integration. Select the pages or databases containing your product FAQs, shipping policies, and return procedures. OpenAgent indexes the content and updates it whenever Notion pages change.
  • Keep documentation in sync automatically
Use Make to poll for Notion page updates on a schedule. When your team edits the return policy in Notion, OpenAgent's knowledge base is refreshed within minutes — no manual re-sync needed.
  • Push support insights to a Notion database
Configure OpenAgent (via Zapier or Make) to append escalation summaries, unresolved question categories, and CSAT trends to a Notion database. Your team reviews the week's patterns in the same workspace where they manage everything else.
  • Build a living FAQ from real conversations
When OpenAgent detects a question it couldn't answer confidently, it logs it to a Notion 'gap tracker' database. Your content team reviews the gaps, writes answers in Notion, and the cycle closes automatically.

Benefits

Documentation team already works in Notion

Instead of maintaining separate knowledge bases in Notion and OpenAgent, your team edits content once in Notion and the AI agent benefits immediately — reducing documentation drift.

Visibility into support gaps without extra tooling

The support-insights Notion database gives product and CX leaders a living view of what customers are asking that the agent can't yet answer — a continuous improvement feedback loop.

Lightweight alternative to a full helpdesk knowledge base

For teams not ready to invest in a dedicated knowledge base platform, Notion + OpenAgent delivers the same agent accuracy at a fraction of the cost and complexity.

Frequently Asked Questions

OpenAgent can index Notion pages (rich text, headings, bullet lists, tables) and database entries with text properties. Embedded images are noted but not used for agent responses. Nested sub-pages are indexed recursively.

The default sync interval is every 60 minutes. You can trigger an immediate re-sync from OpenAgent's admin panel or configure Make to call the sync API the moment a relevant Notion page is updated.

Yes, as long as the OpenAgent integration is added to the pages you want indexed. Notion's integration model lets you share specific pages with OpenAgent without exposing your entire workspace.

OpenAgent can both read from and write to Notion via the API. Reading powers the knowledge base sync; writing (via Zapier or Make) populates insight databases, escalation logs, and gap trackers.

For stores with under ~500 FAQ pages, Notion works very well as a source of truth. Larger catalogs or content requiring structured metadata (e.g., per-product FAQs at scale) may benefit from a dedicated platform.
