OpenAgent + Segment

Route AI support events through Segment to every tool in your stack

About Segment

Segment sits at the center of your customer data infrastructure. By sending OpenAgent events to Segment, every support interaction — chat started, issue category, resolution outcome, CSAT score — enriches the customer profile and flows downstream to your CRM, email platform, data warehouse, and ad tools automatically. One integration, every destination.

How it works together

Connect Segment and OpenAgent gets the context and reach it needs to resolve more tickets automatically.

  • Connect OpenAgent as a Segment Source
Add your Segment Write Key to OpenAgent's integration settings. OpenAgent sends track() and identify() calls to Segment's HTTP Tracking API for every meaningful support event.
  • Enrich user profiles with support traits
OpenAgent sends identify() calls that add traits like last_support_issue, support_csat_score, and total_support_contacts to each user's Segment profile, making them available in every connected destination.
  • Trigger downstream actions in real time
A bookbag_escalated event can trigger a Klaviyo win-back flow, a Salesforce task, or a Slack alert — all through Segment's destination catalog without writing any code.
  • Land support data in your warehouse
Route OpenAgent events to Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift via Segment Connections. Your data team can then join support events with order data to build cohort analyses and LTV models.

Benefits

Single source of truth for the customer timeline

Support interactions belong alongside purchases, email opens, and site visits in the full customer timeline. Segment makes that possible without custom ETL pipelines.

Suppress support-frustrated customers from marketing

Customers who escalated or gave a 1-star CSAT can automatically exit promotional email sequences or be placed in a recovery flow — all driven by a OpenAgent event flowing through Segment.

No integration fatigue

Instead of connecting OpenAgent individually to your CRM, email platform, and warehouse, Segment acts as the single pipe. Add or remove destinations without touching OpenAgent's configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions

OpenAgent uses track() for support events (chat started, issue resolved, escalated, CSAT submitted) and identify() to update user traits. It does not send page() calls.

Yes. OpenAgent traits fed via identify() are available in Segment Profiles (formerly Personas). You can create computed traits like 'high-value customer with unresolved issue' and sync them to ad platforms.

OpenAgent can point to Segment's EU regional endpoint (events.eu1.segmentapis.com) if your store operates under EU data residency requirements. This is configurable in the integration settings.

OpenAgent queues events locally and retries with exponential back-off for up to 24 hours. Events are not silently dropped.

Yes, via Segment Destination Functions or webhooks. For example, you can push a customer's Segment LTV trait into OpenAgent to give the agent context about high-value shoppers who need priority handling.
